Lunch

Lunchtime at Pilot is a time for students to fuel their minds and bodies. About half of our families choose to provide their students with lunch from home, while the other half orders lunch service through a beloved local restaurant.

cafe napoli

For the 2024-25 school year our lunch service is offered through a local Delaware restaurant, Cafe Napoli, which provides freshly made meals for students, faculty, and staff through a simple online ordering process. All meals are prepared daily delivered to schools by Cafe Napoli team. The menu is available below. You will have until midnight on Friday evenings to order for the upcoming week.

Milk Program

Regardless of whether they pack their lunch or use the hot meal service, all students can choose to take part in our milk program. Milk service is available from local farm Hy-Point Dairy, with a choice of 1% plain milk or 1% chocolate milk.

Health Services

We help our students get through the school day feeling well. Our nurses provide first aid and administer daily medications.

School nurse

The Pilot School nurse provides health care to our student community and promotes a healthy school environment by administering ongoing health appraisals. By maintaining a baseline knowledge of the students through up-to-date health records, medication use history, and any special concerns, the school nurse is best able to assume responsibility for the care of all Pilot students. Effective communication with the student, parent/guardian, and school personnel is a key in providing good health services. The school nurse serves as a resource person regarding individual illnesses, communicable diseases, and any other health concerns. She also serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers.

Pilot’s nurse maintains a current State of Delaware nursing license that requires continuing education credits on a biannual basis.

School Psycholosgist

The role of the school psychologist at The Pilot School is multifaceted. The school psychologist may assist students and their families by providing insight regarding students’ unique learning patterns and aid in educational programming. Applying knowledge of child development and how it affects learning and behavior, the school psychologist contributes to curriculum planning and development. Together with other members of the counseling team, the school psychologist is available to provide support and guidance to promote students’ social skills development. The school psychologist provides short-term counseling and makes referrals to outside agencies, as necessary. The school psychologist may also conduct psycho-educational evaluations of students as part of the transition planning process prior to high school.
